Course Introduction

A post-doctoral D.Litt. programme in Non-violence and Peace Studies — A unique interdisciplinary programme — first of its kind in India — exploring the philosophy and practice of non-violence (Ahimsa) and peace studies in personal, social, national and international contexts.

Course Objectives

  • Study the philosophy and practice of non-violence from Indian and global perspectives.
  • Analyse conflict, peace and conflict-resolution frameworks.
  • Develop skills in mediation, dialogue and peace-building.
  • Apply non-violent principles to contemporary social issues.
  • Produce substantial original research culminating in a published work of high academic merit.
  • Make distinguished, recognised contributions to the discipline.

Eligibility

Ph.D. in concerned subject with substantial published research and outstanding contribution to the discipline.
